                         APPENDIX XXIV

NOT E BY SECRETARY , PARLIAMENT SECRE
TARIAT, DATED THE 2lST APRIL, 1950.

I had a talk with H. S. The calligraphist may be
paid a lump sum of Rs. 1,500 on the basis of Rs. 5 per
page for three hundred pages. We have already
asked for a sanction of Rs. 2,00,000 on account of
calligraphy, decoration, illustration and printing of the
Constitution of India. This amount should be met
from that grant. Necessary action will be taken by
the Adm.(E) Branch to make payment to the calligra
       phist.

The Editor of Parliamentary Publications should
take action on paras. 3 and 4 of Honourable Speaker's
note. Necessary draft may be put up for approval.
As regards the printing of the name of the calligra
phist, I think the Surveyor General should be consult
ed as to the manner and place at which this can appear.
The name can be calligraphed as "by so and so". This
can also be in the hand-writing of the calligraphist.
The Calligraphist may also be asked to give us a
sample of the Hindi calligraphy of the Constitution of
India. Sometime ago he wished to do this work.
This sample may be put up for inspection by the
       Honourable the Speaker.
