       LETTER FROM THE HONOURABLE THE FINANCE MINISTER
           TO THE HONOURABLE THE SPEAKER, DATED THE 19TH
           APRIL,  1950.
         Will you kindly refer to your letter No. D.989/50
       dated the 18th April? In the circumstances mentioned
       by you I agree that it is not necessary to place the
       proposal before the Standing Finance Committee for
       approval.


                         APPENDIX XXI
       LETTER FROM THE SURVEYOR GENERAL OF INDIA TO SECRE­
           TARY,  PARLIAMENT   SECRETARIAT,  DATED THE 19TH
           APRIL, 1950.
         Will you kindly refer to your letter No. CA/75/Ser/
       49 of 27th March, 1950.
         2. Our Printing Offices in Dehra Dun are in a posi­
       tion to undertake the printing of the c alii graphed
       pages of the Constitution of India as desired by you
       and these pages may please be sent to us in batches
       as and when ready. The pages should be sent to this
       office for the attention of Mr. E. R. Wilson, Deputy
       Director. As the binding will be in sections of 16
       pages, it will be necessary to print pages 1,2,15 and
       16 on the same sheet of paper and'the . calligraphed
       pages should, therefore, be sent to us in batches of 16.
         3. As regards the question of sending proofs to you
       for approval, we consider that it is not necessary to
       send you proofs of all the pages. ' We will send you
       proofs of the first few pages only for your approval
       of the colours etc. used. Proofs of the remaining pages
       will then be passed by us.
         4. We note that you require     1,000 copies of the
       calligraphed pages of the Constitution of India both
       in English and in Hindi. The proofs sent to you with
