Library Hall: The Library Hall was also constructed on the same pattern as the
Lok Sabha Chamber and the Rajya Sabha Chamber. This Chamber was originally
called the Chamber of Princes where the Rulers of Indian States used to meet to
discuss important matters concerning their States. It was also made available to the
Federal Court ot India for use as a Court Room when the Chamber of Princes
was not in Session. After Independence the Chamber was regularly used by the
Supreme Court and came to be known as the Supreme Court Chamber. In 1958,
when the Supreme Court shifted to its own building, the Chamber was placed at
the disposal of Parliament Library and named as Library Hall. Its floor, furniture,
etc. were then completely re-designed to suit the requirements of the Library.
There are now in the Library Hall elegant reading tables with fluorescent lights,
comfortable chairs and newspaper stands. Here the Members read newspapers,
periodicals, journals, etc. The whole Hall and its adjoining rooms are all air-con
                   ditioned.

Teleprinter Service : In order to keep the Members posted with the latest deve
lopments at home and abroad, a Teleprinter of the Press Trust of India was installed
in 1954. Messages received on the Teleprinter are displayed on a News-Board
                   near the Library Hall.
