Office Accommodation
Parliament House was originally constructed to meet the needs of a Legislature
which was'much smaller in size than now. With the coming into being of the Parlia
ment of India, Parliamentarv' activities so increased that the existing accommoda
tion in Parliament House has become totally inadequate to their needs. A new
Parliament Secretariat Building as well as a separate Library Building is, therefore,
proposed to be constructed in due course in the vicinity of Parliament House on
the Parliament Street to house the Party/Group offices and the offices of the Secre
tariats of the Lok Sabha and the Rajya Sabha.
The Parliament House at present accommodates three offices, the Lok Sabha
Secretariat, the Rajya Sabha Secretariat and the Department of Parliamentary
Affairs.
The two Secretariats of the Parliament of India are spread over all the floors
of the Parliament House. Rooms on the Ground Floor are reserved primarily for
the use of Ministers and such of die Officers and Branches of the Secretariatsof the
Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha whose location there is absolutely necessary.
Parliamentary Notice Office : The Parliamentary Notice Office where Members
of Lok Sabha give their notices, etc. under the Rules of Procedure and Conduct of
Business is located on the Ground Floor just close to main Gate (Gate No. i).
Similarly, the Rajya Sabha Notice Office is located on the left hand side of
Gate No. t just in front of Gate No. 12 for the benefit of Members of the Rajya
Sabha.
Publications and Cheque Counters : The Publications Counter and the Cheque
Counter of Lok Sabha Secretariat are located on the Ground Floor in front of
Gate No. 2 wherefrom the Members get all Parliamentary Publications and their
TA/DA/Salary Cheques. Standardized D.O. Stationery specially printed for the
