DADABMA1 NAOROJI

                                 (1825—1917)
                 "The Grand old man of India". Great social and
               political reformer; the first Indian to be elected to the
               British Parliament, the first Indian to sit on a Royal
               Commission, viz- the Welby Commission and, above
               all, the first Indian to claim self-government or
               "Swaraj".  Thrice elected President of the Indian
               National Congress in 1886, 1893 and 1906.
