NOTES IN THE CONSTITUENT ASSEMBLY SECRETARIAT, DATED
THE 17TH JANUARY TO 25TH JANUARY, 1950.
So far only 100 pages of the Constitution have been
calligraphed. 70 of these pages have already been sent
to Santiniketan for being border-illuminated. Only 15
border-illuminated pages have been received from
Shri Nandalal Bose. Instructions have been sent to
Santiniketan to return back all the calligraphed and
other blank pages duly border-illuminated so as to
reach us before the 23rd anuary 1950. Our calcula

tion that the calligraphy and border-illumination work

would be completed before the 26th anuary has been
upset. Only half of the work will be done by that
date.
2. The concluding chapter of the last Schedule will
be calligraphed. and Members' signatures obtained
thereon and the continuation sheets. Calligraphy and
border-illumination work on the intervening pages will
take at least a month more after the 26th January,
1950.
3. Some arrangements for the future have to be
made so that the work may be completed. This work'
may also be transferred to the L.A.D. along with the
Translation Section. Budget provision exists.
4. It may, however, be determined what honorarium,
if any, is to be paid to the calligraphist and the artists
who are working on it.
