                         APPENDIX XIV
LETTER FROM THE HONOURABLE THE PRIME MINISTER TO
THE HONOURABLE THE SPEAKER, DATED THE 4TH
           MARCH, 1950.
Thank you for your letter of the 2nd March about
the printing etc., of the Constitution. I entirely agree
with you that we should proceed with this matter and
not delay any longer. Further that we should not
mind spending a little more money in making these
printed copies as artistic as possible.
I think we should have at least a thousand copies
       printed. -
There should be a considerable sale for these books.
I think that the minimum price should be Rs. 50 per
copy. I would suggest also that a number of copies,
autographed by the President and you, should be sold
lor Rs. 100 each. We ought to realise at least
Rs. 50,000 by the sale of these copies.
I do not see why any copies should be given free to
anybody. We might give some at a reduced price to
       well-known libraries.
Someone suggested that photostatic copies should be
made of the original hand-written Constitution with
the signatures. This proposal might be investigated.
I do not understand Ramnath Goenka's offer.
Probably he is thinking of ordinary printing and not
of the special type which will have to be done in some
       very special press.
I do not think we should defer the printing. The
sooner we get through with this, the better.

                         APPENDIX XV
NOTE BY THE HONOURABLE THE SPEAKER, DATED THE 6TH
                           MARCH, 1950.
After I got the Secretary's note, dated the 25th
February, giving details of the work of calligraphy,
